Gosh, I love that word!  GRIT!!!

It just feels powerful, down and dirty, raw and real, with no pretense or masquerading, going the distance, staying the course, taking uncomfortable action!

NO MATTER WHAT, AND I MEAN NO MATTER WHAT!

Let me ask you, as a Frontline Worker, do you have GRIT?

Do you have what it takes to Wake-Up to your Aliveness, live your truth, and make the necessary changes to serve others as your most authentic, powerful, whole, and brilliant self?

Do you have what it takes to practice self-care, putting yourself first, taking your personal inventory, and asking and answering the following questions?

    1. Am I happy?
    2. Am I fulfilled?
    3. Am I living my truth?
    4. Am I serving my clients from a place of overflowing or mediocrity?
    5. Am I awake to my ALIVENESS?
    6. Where do I need to pivot, give more attention, and ask for help or support?

To answer these questions, you must begin by telling yourself the truth, then listening to your heart, followed by GRIT.

So, What is grit?

Grit is a combination of passion, determination, and perseverance toward long-term goals, living life on your terms, without apology,  even in the face of challenges, setbacks, and obstacles.

It’s getting clear on where you are and where you want to be and then creating a plan of action to get there, all while maintaining focus and drive over an extended period, often in pursuit of goals that require significant effort and time to achieve, even when there is no evidence that you are anywhere near your goals.

What is the RECIPE for GRIT?

Passion says:

  • I have a strong sense of purpose and enthusiasm for my goals.
  • I am deeply committed to what I’m doing, and my passion provides the motivation to keep going, even when things get tough.

Perseverance says:

  • I don’t give up easily.
  • I will put in consistent effort and work through challenges, setbacks, and failures.
  • I see obstacles as opportunities to learn and grow rather than as reasons to quit.

Long-Term Focus says:

  • I will maintain my long-term perspective.
  • I understand that meaningful achievements often take time and sustained effort.
  • I am willing to stay committed over the course of weeks, months, or even years.
  •  NO MATTER WHAT!

Resilience:

  • I  have strong mental resilience.
  • I bounce back from setbacks and failures, using these experiences to refine my strategies and improve my approach.

Self Discipline:

  • I have the self-discipline to consistently put in the necessary work, even when distractions and temptations are present.
  • I can and will delay gratification and make choices that align with their long-term goals.

Focus on Mastery:

  • I am more interested in the process of improvement and mastery than I am in quick wins.
  • I am willing to invest time, money, and effort to develop my skills and expertise.
  • I know that I need help, community,  accountability, and support
  • I know that I’m meant to do this thing called life alone.
  • I know we need each other to change, no exceptions!

It’s important to remember that grit is about more than stubbornly pursuing goals without regard for feedback or adjusting strategies.

Women with GRIT are adaptable and open to learning from their experiences. They refine their approaches based on feedback and new information while maintaining their passion and commitment.

In summary, grit combines passion and perseverance to achieve long-term goals. It’s about staying the course, staying focused, resilient, and committed in the face of challenges and setbacks.

About Mikki Proffitt
My mission in life is to create a space where women like you can share your stories from a place of truth, vulnerability, and safety. Where you can be raw and real, without masks or pretense. You can come as you are, feel seen, heard, held, and witnessed without judgment, and be surrounded by love. As a woman whose own healing journey through childhood trauma, abuse, and addiction I have spent over three decades in a career of service to others as an addictions counselor, trauma-informed breathwork, grief movement, and EFT Practioner. My deepest desire is that my work helps women end their suffering as they remember who they are, reclaim their power, and reignite their purpose.
