Breathwork with Mikki: Your Path to Change
Your Breath, Your Power, Your Medicine
Discover the profound power within you!
“Breath does not just change the way we see things; it transforms the person who sees it.”
— B.K.S. Iyengar
Did you know that time alone does not heal?
You have the power to unlock your healing by actively participating in your journey.
Our bodies accumulate and store emotions, traumas, grief, and narratives. Our breath is like a laser and knows exactly where to go to release old, congested wounds and heal old, longstanding memories of loss, pain, and struggle, as well as all the emotions attached to those. Our breath is our most powerful, potent, and accessible natural resource and medicine.
Each breath holds the potential to heal and transform. Simply show up, breathe, and let your breath be your guide.
Breathwork has been a life-changing process for me! At the beginning of each breathwork session, Mikki has us set an intention and then we let it go. Recently, at one of the breathwork sessions, I set an intention to forgive myself for believing for so long the lie that I am unworthy, which had led to an almost hatred of my body.
Breathwork has allowed me to release old, limiting beliefs that have kept me stuck in old patterns of low self-worth. It’s only up from here!

The Medicine of Breath
Our breath, often an unnoticed and untapped resource, is the most powerful natural gift we possess. It serves as a vital and potent medicine, guiding us toward profound healing and inner peace.
It is our medicine, healer, and liberator. From the very first moment of life, it has carried us through every struggle, emotion, celebration, milestone, and experience. It knows where everything is stored and hidden.
Our bodies store emotions, traumas, memories, and grief. Breathwork heals by releasing old wounds, memories of loss, pain, and struggle, and all the emotions that go along with that on a cellular level.
Conscious Connected Breathwork is your gateway to accessing the hidden places within. It allows your breath to access and release those burdens that you have become lodged in your body, accustomed to, perhaps even desensitized to.
In your first breathwork session, you will release something, lightening your load. You may even feel some of those hidden wounds, stored traumas, and buried grief leave your body. You will feel a shift and know that something is different. You will feel lighter, better, and freer.
Continuing your journey of breathwork shows your courage in taking that important first step as you begin to shed the old layers. By making breathwork a regular practice, you’ll discover that each session will build on the last, guiding you to deeper healing and newfound clarity.
Over time, you’ll notice how the stress, mental clutter, and daily struggles melt away, leaving you with a calm mind, inner peace, and a profound sense of fulfillment.
How does it feel to know that every breath you take is a step closer to the best version of yourself?
Take the courageous step onto the path of change and your radical transformation.
Are you ready to connect more fully with your heart, your wildest dreams, and your most powerful, whole, brilliant, and authentic self through conscious, connected breathwork?
Testimonials
Mikki’s breathwork has helped me work through so much of the grief, self-doubt, anger, and sadness that I was carrying around every day. She has guided me through feeling, honoring, and releasing those emotions that have been stuck inside for so long. I have always felt so safe and supported in the healing space that she creates in her sessions. Mikki has really shown me how healing our breath can be. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today if not for Mikki and her incredible work!
How Does Breathwork Transform The Body And Mind?
When you do breathwork, you control and use your breath to affect your physical, mental, and emotional body. This allows you to tap into different states of consciousness and into the body’s natural healing abilities.
Controlled breathing practices, such as Conscious Connected breathwork, can regulate the nervous system, release emotions, reduce stress, and improve physical health.
In simple terms, breathwork can quiet your inner critic, calm the monkey mind, balance your mood, and promote a deep sense of inner peace.
Meet Your Guide
Welcome!
I’m Mikki Proffitt, Women’s Path to Change Doula and Sacred Healing Guide, dedicated to helping you become the hero of your own story. It’s never too late, and you’re never too old or too young to begin your transformative journey.
With over 35 years of experience, I’m a certified addictions counselor, EFT practitioner, trauma-informed breathwork facilitator, and grief movement guide. I’ve worked extensively with families and women affected by addiction, trauma, and grief.
Growing up in a home where addiction and a lack of safety, trust, and love were constant companions, I know firsthand how deeply and profoundly these experiences shape us. These traumas leave imprints on our bodies, creating a lasting sense of dysregulation and dysfunction that follows us long after we’ve left those environments. They touch every corner of our lives—our relationships, our beliefs, and our behaviors—trapping us in cycles of fear and self-preservation without even knowing it.
I began my journey of healing long ago, and as I’ve discovered, our journey never ends. Along the way, I’ve had many breakthrough moments and experienced lots of healing, but the most profound shift I’ve ever experienced was in my first breathwork session. I literally felt old trauma and emotions I didn’t know still existed leave my body. That experience blew my mind and changed my life forever.
It also confirmed my passion, devotion, and commitment to continue creating a safe, supportive, and loving community for women like you and me—a place of healing where you can be seen, heard, held, believed, and witnessed. I believe with all of my heart that healing is possible for anyone who is willing to show up and do their work, stay the course, dig deep, and step outside their comfort zone.
This journey is not for the faint of heart, but it is for those ready to take the true hero’s journey. It takes courage, and it takes community. Side by side, we embark on a path of sustainable change rooted in truth, transforming self-doubt, uncertainty, indecision, untended trauma, and grief into self-compassion,self-trust, self-worth, and self-love, which is—and always has been—your birthright.
Frequently Asked Questions
Curious about the circular breathing technique I teach and how it feels?
Here’s what to expect from a breathwork session with me:
- Setup: Lie down comfortably on your back, keeping your back straight. Avoid using a pillow unless necessary to keep your throat clear for deep breathing into your belly.
- Breathing Phases: There are three phases:
- The first breath is into the belly.
- The second breath is into the chest.
- Let it go with a natural exhale.
- Guidance: Music will play in the background to motivate, relax, and help release anything stuck. I’ll guide you through the process to ensure you’re doing it correctly to avoid hyperventilating.
- Technique: Focus on getting the technique right initially. Mistakes can happen, but correcting them early will set you on the path to a safe and effective practice.
- Mindset: Don’t worry about being perfect. Critical thoughts are just your mind resisting change.
- Experience: After 10-15 minutes, the breath starts guiding you. This can lead to life-changing experiences, leaving you feeling full of love, gratitude, joy, and peace.
- Challenges: Circular breathwork can be challenging at first, but if you’ve done harder things, you’ll be just fine. Push through any resistance to break out of old cycles and clear stress, anxiety, anger, and depression.
- Results: You’ll know it’s working after your first session by how amazing you feel.
Is Circular Breathing Safe?
I’ve been leading breathwork for years, guiding many safely through the process.
Key Safety Points:
- Position: Always perform circular breathing lying down on your back.
- Avoid: Never do it while driving or in water due to the powerful, altered states it can create.
Control: You are always in control. If it feels too intense, simply tone it down by breathing through your nose until comfortable. You can pause at any time and resume when you’re ready.
Practicality: Breathwork can be practiced whenever you need to, even in the middle of a busy day, to alleviate stress.
Safety Comparison: Breathwork is no more dangerous than riding a bicycle or going to the gym. Fear often comes from the unknown, not the actual risk involved.
What Will You Experience During A Breathwork Session?
Breathwork is an incredible journey but can come with some initial discomfort as your body adjusts.
Remember, it’s called breath-WORK for a reason! During a circular breathwork session, you might feel:
- A tingly sensation in your hands, feet, and face
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Muscle tightness in the hands and jaw (known as “tetany”), which is normal and harmless
- Altered states and intense emotional release
Here’s how you can handle these sensations:
Push through the Discomfort: Though it might be tough, pushing past the initial resistance can be highly rewarding. Just keep telling yourself, “Shut up and breathe,” until your mind lets go of fear or panic.
Slow Down and Rebalance: Remember, you are in control. If it feels too intense, slow down your breathing. Take a deep, slow breath through your nose and exhale slowly until you feel ready to start again.
What Are The Benefits of Circular Breathing?
Circular breathwork can be challenging, but the rewards are immense. Here are some key benefits backed by studies:
1. Massive Stress Relief and Deep Relaxation:
Circular breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.
2. Improved Mood and Reduced Anxiety:
This type of breathing boosts endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals, enhancing mood and overall well-being.
3. Enhanced Breathing Function and Immune Support:
Circular breathing increases oxygen and energy flow throughout the body, positively impacting the immune system.
4. Pain Relief:
The increased endorphins can help reduce physical pain and improve well-being.
5. Better Sleep and More Energy:
Regular practice helps regulate the sleep-wake cycle, improving sleep quality and increasing energy levels.
But, the physical benefits are just the beginning. Based on my experiences and those of others, circular breathwork offers profound spiritual and mental rewards that science is still exploring. Some of these are:
- Emotional Regulation
- Manifesting Greater Abundance
- Deep Healing of Wounds, Grief, and Traumas
- Access to Expanded States of Consciousness
- Transcending the Mind and Emotions
- Mystical Revelations
- Greater Self-Love and More Loving Relationships
- Increased Connection to Source
- Overwhelming Joy
- Deep Inner Peace
- Feelings of Connectedness and Oneness
These benefits have transformed my life and the lives of my students. Whether you seek physical health, spiritual growth, or both, circular breathwork has so much to offer!
