Let’s Get Raw & Real about Addiction, Codependency & Recovery

As we begin today’s conversation about what it’s like to love someone who struggles with addiction and the price you have agreed to pay in order for things to remain the same or choose the risks and rewards it takes to change.

Addiction in its most raw form is a craving to live in some other reality than what actually is.  To numb the pain and dim the voices, to push the truth away.

Not only does this include the “addict,” but it also and most definitely includes those who love the “addict.”

 I want to invite you:

To give yourself permission to do something new, to be open to possibility, and to be curious about any emotions, sensations, resistance, or feelings of uncomfortableness, a need to turn away, dismiss, or read no further.  You cannot heal what you cannot see, and you cannot heal what you cannot feel.

I want to invite you:

To bring your life in line, and force no pain away because pain is an indicator of where truth is needed.

I want to invite you:

To take off your rose-colored glasses and begin to see and acknowledge things as they really are, allowing the truth to surface, have a voice, and break through the wall of resistance that has kept and perpetuated the cycle, patterns, and behaviors of addiction alive.

I want to invite you:

To lovingly, compassionately, through the lens of curiosity and honestly, ask yourself-

  • Where are you along the path of your own personal change and transformation?
  • Where are you stuck?
  • Are you living the life you always dreamed of?
  • Somewhere along the way have you set aside, disowned, misplaced your power, your voice, your hopes, and your dreams?
  • Have you been waiting for things to get better, change to happen, hanging on by a thread, desperate, afraid and alone, not knowing where to begin to make a change.
  • Have you been hoping, convincing, and believing that you can change the world around you all on your own, in silence, secrecy, and isolation.

 I want to invite you:

To stop waiting on the sidelines of your life for life to get easier.

Take the next step and join me for a Free 4-week series, Preparing For Your Journey Through Codependency.  A place created and set aside just for you to begin your journey of truth.

Remember,  you are not alone and it takes a village to surround a woman who is ready to show up for her life.

Much, much love,
Mikki

Together we’re going to get real and talk about what it’s like and what it means to love an addict by breaking the silence and shining a light on the hidden places of secrets, shame, and sorrow, moving out of feeling trapped and alone into a place of freedom.

About Mikki Proffitt
My mission in life is to create a space where women like you can share your stories from a place of truth, vulnerability, and safety. Where you can be raw and real, without masks or pretense. You can come as you are, feel seen, heard, held, and witnessed without judgment, and be surrounded by love. As a woman whose own healing journey through childhood trauma, abuse, and addiction I have spent over three decades in a career of service to others as an addictions counselor, trauma-informed breathwork, grief movement, and EFT Practioner. My deepest desire is that my work helps women end their suffering as they remember who they are, reclaim their power, and reignite their purpose.
